Our paper on assessing power plants' CO2 emissions in India using 8 years satellite data is published!
In our recent paper, we assessed CO2 emissions from coal-based power plants in India using eight years of satellite measurements. This is the first study that uses long-term OCO-2 satellite measurements to report CO2 anomalies and emissions caused by different anthropogenic CO2 sources over India.
India is the world's third largest CO2 emitting country and coal is the major energy source.
Our findings suggested that some power plant emissions might be absent in emission inventories and that emissions from other sources were often underestimated.
